Polli-NATION festival prepares for 3rd year

More than 1,000 festival-goers are expected to converge on Kissing Birch Farm for the third annual Polli-NATION Festival noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10.

Part musical festival, part art installation and part educational event, the Polli-NATION Festival is the biggest fundraiser for the Stillwater-based Pollinator Friendly Alliance.

The festival includes a lineup of bands, food trucks, craft beer and opportunities to learn about supporting bees and other pollinators as their numbers continue to dwindle. “Pollinator Protector” and “Pollinator Hero” awards will also be given.

This year’s music lineup includes Trapper Schoepp & the Shades, Jeff Ray & the Stakes, Cattail Moon, Eddie Estrin, Emcee Colleen Kruse, Guardian Stilt Walkers and Wisdom Dancers.

In 2015 the festival began at Lift Bridge Brewing Co., and the high turnout prompted the event to move to Kissing Birch Farm in Stillwater Township last year.

The Pollinator Friendly Alliance, which puts on the event, provides education about pollinators to individuals, businesses and government agencies and helps construct pollinator habitats.

Kissing Birch Farm is at 10020 Norell Ave. N., Stillwater Township.

Advance tickets (through Sept. 8) cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. At the gate tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.
