Plans for the 9th annual “Service Fore Others” golf tournament are underway. The event, to be held June 5 at Stillwater Country Club, includes golf, a silent auction, lunch, dinner and a short program.
Proceeds benefit hunger, health and housing programs. Last year’s event raised more than $20,000, with proceeds going to education, water and medical programs in Tanzania, to Valley Outreach and meal packing programs in Stillwater, to refugee relief in St. Paul and to other programs.
Interested golfers may participate as individuals or foursomes. The golfing portion of the day will include hot lunch, cart, and noon tee-off for the 18-hole “Best Ball Scramble.” The opportunity to win $20,000 in the hole-in-one event will be back. There will also be other putting, driving and scoring contests, chances to buy mulligans, and other events and trophies.
The silent auction will feature golf equipment and packages, sports event tickets, hot air balloon rides, wine, artwork and more. Raffle items include gift certificates, gift baskets and other items donated by local individuals and merchants. The buffet-style dinner will be followed by a short program, “Design for Life: Water in Tanzania” by Paul Strykowski of the University of Minnesota.
Organizers are still looking for hole sponsors, golfers and items for the raffle and silent auction. Those wishing to attend only the dinner and participate in the silent auction may also sign up.
