Colman Farrington and Kohei Adams each scored a goal to carry the Stillwater boys’ soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Wayzata in the Class AA state championship game at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Ponies (22-0) captured the program’s first championship since 1996 — and third overall — knocking off the second-seeded and also previously unbeaten Trojans (18-1-3).

Following a scoreless opening half, Farrington scored less than three minutes after the intermission on an assist by Miguel Caravias. The Ponies sealed the victory with Adams’ goal with less than eight minutes remaining.

Fred LeClair made four saves to earn the shutout for Stillwater, which outscored its opponents by a combined 82-11 this season.

Stillwater outshot the Trojans 12-2 in the second half.
