Rodney and Dolores Harvey

Dolores Jean Harvey (Gullickson), 89, passed away in October 2013 after a short illness. Rodney Bryce Harvey, 91, passed away in November 2013.
The couple is survived by their sons Ronald (Susan) and Jeffrey (Julie); daughter Janet (Mark); and grandchildren Erin, Megan (John), Christopher (Nicole) and Samuel.
Dolores was born in Egan, South Dakota. She and her husband of 69 years lived most of their lives in the Twin Cities area, but also resided in Puerto Rico, Texas, Utah and Australia. After a career teaching Medical Technology at the University of Minnesota she pursued her passion for bridge in retirement. She was fond of all creatures but especially birds, and she volunteered at the Raptor Center.
Rodney grew up in Stillwater. He earned an M.D. and a Ph.D., and taught physiology at the University of Puerto Rico, the University of Utah and the U.S. Air Force School of Aviation Medicine, then spent the majority of his career at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Both Rodney and Dolores worked at the Howard Florey Institute in Melbourne, Australia, before retiring.
Rodney had wide-ranging interests, from photography to rock cutting, carpentry to gardening, skiing to boating and jewelry making. He was an avid reader, but never read fiction.
A celebration of their lives will be held Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Village in Mahtomedi. Memorials may be sent to the Raptor Center, University of Minnesota.
