Jean Hobson

Image-13157Jean Hobson, age 92, of Stillwater was born June 10, 1921 in Blackduck Minnesota to James and Eleanor Johnson. She graduated from Bemidji State University in May of 1943 and married Rodney Dwight Hobson in June of the same year. Jean followed Rodney to Sioux Falls, SD and Madison, WI where Rodney served in the Army Air Force. The young couple lived in Henning and Winona Minnesota after the war ended and then on to Stillwater in 1951 where Jean taught for 22 years in School District 834. Her greatest love was her family, followed by her passion for music and gardening. She was the choir director for many years at First United Methodist Church and started the bell and youth choirs.
Jean passed away peacefully at home on March 30, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodney. Jean is survived by her children, David (Sue) and Matthew; grandchildren, Alison Nelson (Scottie), Emily Hobson (Adam), Hanna, Annika and Erik Hobson as well as two great-grandchildren, Grant and Audrey Nelson.
A memorial service will be held for Jean on Saturday, April 5 at 11:00 A.M. (visitation 1 hour prior to service) at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF STILLWATER. Memorials preferred (in lieu of flowers) to First United Methodist Church and Lakeview Hospital Hospice Program.
