Area briefs: Home and garden show

The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the fifth annual Stillwater Home and Garden Show will take place on Saturday, March 1 at Rutherford Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is free with a non-perishable food item donation (for Valley Outreach) or $3 without, and the event is set to feature more than 70+ local landscape and home improvement exhibitors.  Local home and garden experts will highlight their skills during several presentations throughout the day.

“We had a great show last year” said Dolly Parker, event administrator. “We are looking forward to incorporating demonstrations from exhibitors this year.”

The chamber is currently accepting applications for exhibitors and sponsors for this year’s event.

Korean Students’ Glee Club concert

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls will present a Korean Collegiate Glee Club choral concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. The public is invited.

Tickets are available at the door for $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for students. The concert will be directed by Dong-Hwee Park with accompanist In-Young Park.

Established in 1966, the Korean Students’ Glee Club  is composed of college students studying music at various universities from the Seoul metropolitan area. The repertoire of the ensemble is comprehensive, encompassing literature from the great choral masters of the Renaissance to the present. Folk songs from the world, including Korean works are blended in this concert.

The club has made significant contributions to Christian missions and to the development of choral music in the Republic of Korea for more than 47 years.
