The Stillwater adapted soccer team will make its first appearance at the state tournament in seven years when its faces Park Center in the quarterfinals on Friday at Stillwater Area High School.
The Ponies won the second of their consecutive state titles in 2007, but won’t carry the weight of similar expectations this time around. Stillwater has played four games against fellow state qualifiers this year, but lost each time, including a 10-4 setback against the Pirates on Oct. 8. The rematch is slated for Friday at 8 p.m.

Stillwater dispatched defending state champion Dakota United in the section playoffs to end a run of 13 consecutive state tournament appearances for the Hawks. Dakota United defeated Mounds View/Irondale/Roseville 6-1 in last year’s title game.
