Request for historian Proposals

The City of Stillwater is seeking proposals from qualified historians for the purpose of creating a pre-approved list of professionals eligible to prepare designation studies. The pre-approved list will be used to quickly initiate a designation study when needed in cases involving owners of historic resources that have made application for a demolition permit.

Applicants must meet qualifications of the Department of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards (Federal Register 9/29/83).

Ordinance Revising the Zoning Code § 509.05
Regarding Grading and Backfill

WHEREAS, the City’s existing Codes relating to grading requires a grading permit for certain grading activities; and

WHEREAS, the City desires to revise its Codes relating to grading to allow for backfilling around a structure without the need for the applicant to obtain a separate grading permit; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on a proposed text amendment to the Zoning Code and recommended to the City Council to adopt changes to the zoning code.

NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF LAKE ST. CROIX BEACH ORDAINS:

That the City Code of the City of Lake St. Croix Beach shall be amended as follows, with additions noted in underlined text and deletions noted in strikethrough text.

1. That Section 509.05 of the Municipal Zoning Code of the City of Lake St. Croix Beach is hereby amended as follows:

(2) An excavation below finished grade for basements and footings of a building, retaining wall or other structure and backfill of said building, retaining wall or other structure is authorized by a valid building permit. This shall not exempt any fill, other than said backfill, made with the material from such excavation nor exempt any excavation having an unsupported height greater than five (5) feet after the completion of such a structure. For purposes of this exception, the term backfill refers to fill within twenty-five (25) feet of said building, retaining wall, or other structure up to the new finished grade.

EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval and publication, as required by law.

Any heir, devisee or other interested person may be entitled to appointment as personal representative or may object to the appointment of the personal representative.
