Lumberjacks hosting fundraiser on Sept. 21
The St. Croix Valley Lumberjacks are hosting a fun and unique fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Brekke Park in Oak Park Heights. The local Special Olympics outfit is hosting the inaugural Operation Valley Challenge to raise money to support a team that participates in track and field, golf, bowling, skiing/snowboarding, basketball and aquatics. The Lumberjacks offer programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and competition. All of the profits from this event will help the Lumberjacks pay for practice spaces, equipment and state competitions.
The Operation Valley Challenge is a race where participants overcome various obstacles and challenges — using skills and wit — at strategic locations throughout Oak Park Heights. Contestants will solve clues to determine where they must go to complete the next challenge and must solve all 10 challenges, with the first one to do so and cross the finish line declared the winner. The race is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
Area businesses are also encouraged to participate by making a prize donation, such as gift certificates, products or services — or hosting a challenge. For additional information about this event, please contact fundraising coordinator Brenda Pace by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
On-line registration and additional information about the event is available at https://sites.google.com/site/operationvalleychallenge/home. The registration fee is $16 before Sept. 12 and $21 thereafter.
n The Lumberjacks are currently looking for volunteers to assist with this event in the following areas: registration, challenge host, and finish line check-in.
