Barbara Ann (Wilson) Badger, 89, of Stillwater, passed away peacefully July 29 2013, with her beloved family and stuffed animal, “Little Friend,” present the entire week prior. Born in 1924 in Stillwater, Barb graduated from Stillwater High in 1942 and the University of Minnesota in 1948. She served as a World War II WAVES Link Trainer in Corpus Christi, Texas. Barb is preceded in death by Chester and Mary Wilson, father and mother, and former husband Stephen Badger. She is survived by her children, Chris (Cheryl), Cathy Stockinger (Guenther), Heron Diana (Jessie), and Dan (Jane); grandchildren, Caitlin, Nick, Ellen, and Karl; sister, Betty Froemming, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barb grew up in her beloved St. Croix River Valley, canoeing with friends and family. Barb loved her kids and grandkids, her friends and hometown Stillwater, as well as family history, gourmet cooking, herb and wildflower gardening, the Southwest and many diverse types of music. She was an avid reader and a lover of word puzzles who enjoyed a lively political discussion. She was passionate about protecting wildlife, especially Minnesota’s grey wolves. Barb was a dedicated Special Ed teacher and an enthusiastic member of a variety of clubs, including the Primrose Club and Great Books. Barb loved watching British comedies, and introduced her sister to email. A memorial service is 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at White Bear Unitarian Universalist Church, 328 Maple St. in Mahtomedi. A private interment precedes the service. Memorials to the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minn., or White Bear UU Church are welcome.
