Senior Lars Lillehei was named the Most Valuable Player for the Stillwater boys’ golf team this past spring.

Lillehei, who competed at the state tournament in 2012, helped lead the Ponies to a fourth-place finish in the Suburban East Conference and a third-place effort in the Section 4AAA tournament. Lillehei also received Academic All-State honors and joined Sammy Sicard as an All-SEC honoree.

In addition to receiving honorable mention all-conference recognition, Evan Anderson joined Sicard at the state tournament this spring and was the team’s Academic Award recipient.

Sicard, a sophomore, finished eighth to earn all-state honors. Sicard also garnered the team’s Work Ethic Award and the Most Outstanding Player Award.

Lillehei and Tony Pulido were this year’s recipients of the Phil Parizino Scholarship Award. The Ponies also presented awards to Seamus McGuinness as the Best Newcomer and Crosby Joy as the Most Improved Player.

Also announced is that Anderson and Joy will serve as captains for the 2014 team.
