Testing the cable

A repair crew raises the Stillwater Lift Bridge lift span about 3 p.m. Wednesday to test a new cable. The bridge was closed to vehicles and pedestrians from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday so crews could replace a frayed cable discovered Sunday evening by a bridge operator. The state Department of Transportation suspended the bridge lift schedule until the repair was made. Officials said the bridge lift operation was expected to resume by 4 p.m. Wednesday.
