Man arrested after incident at local real estate office

SPD logo-1An Oakdale man was arrested on first-degree burglary and fifth-degree assault charges in connection with an incident Monday at a Stillwater real estate company.

A Stillwater Police Department report said the suspect, wearing no shoes or socks and twitching, entered the victim’s office about 2 p.m. Monday and asked about properties for sale on the east side of St. Paul. The report added that the victim recognized the suspect, who had come to the office a month earlier asking the same thing. In both cases, the victim said he told the man his company does not sell properties in St. Paul, according to the report.

The victim told officers the suspect left the office, then came back, pushed the door open, began yelling and screaming and punched the victim in the face and back, the report said. The victim told officers he tried to block the punches and eventually escaped into a hallway yelling for help.

The man drove away but a witness got his vehicle license plate number. Further investigation led officers to the suspect, who was identified by the victim in a photo line-up.

The suspect told police he struck the victim because he claimed the man was rude and disrespectful to him, the report said. When officers asked the suspect why he didn’t report the victim to his superior, the man said he didn’t believe it would have done any good. The suspect also admitted leaving the building, then going back and fighting with the victim. He also admitted to throwing the first punch, according to the report.

Motorcyclist dies in Wisconsin crash

HUDSON, Wis. — A Baldwin, Wis., man died Tuesday evening from injuries he suffered when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer on a county road outside the town of Emerald.

The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 59-year-old Robert F. Cripe. Cripe was flown from the accident scene by helicopter to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he later died, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

SCCSO deputies said Cripe was driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on County Road G just east of 250th Street in Emerald when a deer walked into the westbound lane and was hit by Cripe’s motorcycle.

Deputies said Cripe was ejected from the motorcycle after hitting the deer. Investigators added that it is not known if Cripe was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Tuesday’s accident, which remains under investigation, was the sixth traffic fatality in St. Croix County this year. Assisting at the scene were the Glenwood City Fire Department and EMS and Baldwin EMS.

Woman cited for disorderly conduct

A 24-year-old Mora woman from was cited for disorderly conduct following a Saturday morning incident involving Stillwater Police officers in the 300 block of Water Street.

The woman told officers that several men were harassing her as a group of women were leading her away from another friend the woman had been arguing with, according to a police report. A man who appeared to be part of the group that the woman’s friend was with made a comment to the 24-year-old, who then slapped him, the report said.

The 24-year-old told officers to do something, saying the men were very rude and her friend was going to leave with them, the report said. But when officers told the woman that they couldn’t do anything about the situation and they believed she was the problem, the woman insulted the officer and pushed them with an open hand, the report added.

The woman was cited for disorderly conduct, booked at the Washington County Jail and was released to a responsible adult.

Man, woman cited for various offenses

Two White Bear Lake residents were cited for theft-related charges in connection with an incident Saturday afternoon.

The victim told Stillwater Police officers he saw a 38-year-old man in his car without the victim’s permission, according to a police report. Evidence indicated the suspect removed a stereo from the victim’s vehicle and put it in his car, the report said.

The victim and a friend blocked in the 38-year-old man’s vehicle, though the suspect willingly waited for officers to arrive. The suspect told officers he had permission from someone named Dan T. to enter the vehicle because Dan T. was selling it to them, the report said. The suspect’s 26-year-old girlfriend corroborated his story.

When officers contacted Dan T., the man said he knew the suspect, but denied giving him permission to enter the car or any knowledge of selling the vehicle. The suspect was cited for misdemeanor theft from a motor vehicle and motor vehicle tampering and his girlfriend was cited for aiding and abetting theft.

Wallet stolen from woman in store

A woman reported her wallet stolen from her purse recently while she was shopping  at a local grocery store, according to a Stillwater Police Department report.

Within two hours of the report, the thief had charged $1,000 on the victim’s TCF debit card and TJ Maxx card, the report said. The victim reported losing other credit cards, her drivers license, $20 cash and vehicle insurance and health insurance cards.
