Human Rights Award nominees sought by city

stillwaterThe city of Stillwater seeks nominations for the annual Stillwater Human Rights Award, city officials announced.

The award honors a worthy person, organization or business working to build an environment promoting fair and equal treatment of all and whose efforts might go unrecognized outside of friends, co-workers and neighbors.

Award eligibility requirements are:

  •  The nominee must be a Stillwater resident, business or organization whose actions promoting respect for all people have primarily occurred in Stillwater;
  •   The activities should relate to protection of human rights regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, status regarding public assistance, disability, sexual orientation or age. Added weight is given for activities that occurred over a period of time.
  •  Activities must be voluntary or above and beyond the usual job responsibilities of an employee or the usual customer relations practices of a business or organization.
