Body found in river identified

A badly decomposed body pulled from the St. Croix River in Lakeland Tuesday was identified as a Hudson, Wis., man missing since April, according to a Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the body as 54-year-old Donald Duane Marklowitz Jr., said WCSO Cmdr. Brian Mueller. Deputies recovered Marklowitz’s body near the 900 block of Quentin Avenue South in Lakeland Tuesday morning.

Marklowitz was last seen in Hudson April 1, Mueller said. Marklowitz’s family reported him missing to Hudson Police April 16.

Mueller said the exact cause of Marklowitz’s death remains under investigation. Mueller added that authorities are not looking for anyone in relation to this case and there is no threat to the public.
