Gymnastics: Korlin-Downs, Fayler off to regionals

Two gymnasts from the St. Croix Valley who train with Perpetual Motion Gymnastics in Woodbury are scheduled to compete at the Region 4 Gymnastics Championships on Thursday through Monday in St. Charles, Mo.

Mary Korlin-Downs, a sophomore at Stillwater Area High School, is a Level 10 gymnast who recently placed 19th overall in the 15-and-under age group at the state competition that was held in St. Joseph.

Her best performance came in vault, where a score of 9.325 landed her in 12th place.

Megan Fayler, a ninth-grader at Oak-Land Junior High, posted an all-around score of 36.450 to finish fifth in among Level 9 gymnasts in the 14-year-old age group.

Fayler tied for first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.375 and finished fourth on bars with a score of 9.25.
