The Washington County Historic Courthouse “History in Your Backyard” event Sunday marks the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg with a talk by Michael Frain about the life of a Civil War soldier and the battle.

Frain speaks in the Historic Courthouse second floor courtroom from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Visitors can learn about a soldier’s daily life, see Civil War artifacts and ask questions.

History in Your Backyard is noon to 3 p.m. and features old-fashioned games, jail tours, an exhibit of high school athletics in the county and visits with area history buffs. Light refreshments will be served.
