Writing series tackles ‘writer’s block’

Author, writing coach Rosanne Bane speaks at February session

Why do people find so many ways to avoid creative work? Why is it so incredibly hard to create? Author and creativity coach Rosanne Bane discusses these and other questions at the upcoming “Writers on Writing” program at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at ArtReach St. Croix in Stillwater.

Bane, author of “Around the Writer’s Block” and “Dancing in the Dragon’s Den,” also teaches writing classes at the Loft Literary Center and University of Minnesota. As a creativity coach, Bane has worked with more than a thousand writers and artists over the course of 20 years to help them overcome and understand the roadblocks to their creativity.

“I am so lucky to be able to read, talk and write about things I’m passionate about, and to talk with, encourage and support fascinating, talented people,” Bane explains. “And on top of that, I get to call this ‘work.’ What a great gift—what a great gig.”

The goal of the Writers on Writing program is bringing authors into the community to talk about writing, publishing and the writing life.

ArtReach St. Croix is located at 224 N.Fourth St, in Stillwater across from the Stillwater Public Library. It includes Bane’s presentation, question-and-answer session, book signing and opportunity to mingle with other writers, artists and book lovers. The event is free and open to the public.

Writers on Writing is sponsored by Valley Bookseller of Stillwater and supported through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. For more information, visit www.artreachstcroix.org or the regional event calendar http://www.StCroixSplash.org.
