Community & People Warm-hearted hockey team Published December 26, 2012 at 11:19 am Submitted photoThe Stillwater 14UA Red Team recently spent some off-ice time working to make a difference not only in their community but the community of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. In early December, the team spent their night off at the Valley Outreach food shelf. The girls organized a mini-food drive and brought 196 pounds of food to Valley Outreach. Team members spent two hours shelving food, cutting boxes and ended the evening with a tour. It wasn’t long before the girls realized that sometimes making a difference goes further than your own backyard. The team gathered for their holiday party and decided to make a difference with 26 Acts of Kindness. The girls wrote a note to each of the 26 families involved in the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy. The notes were mailed with a donation from the team to the My Sandy Hook Family Fund. Team members are, first row from left: K. Lottsfeldt, P. Scheid, M. Rondeau, N. Gella, A. Reding and K.
