LEROY, Minn. — Funeral services for Shaughnessy “Joe” McNamara are held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 19, 2012, at The Lime Springs United Methodist Church in Lime Springs, Iowa, with the Rev. Candraeah Carey officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy. Visitation continues at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Burial is in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Joe, 56, of Lime Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
He was born Sept. 3, 1956, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Francis and Wilma “Blue” (Loar) McNamara. He attended and graduated from Immaculata High School in Leavenworth and was united in marriage to Kristine “Kristy” Walker on April 18, 1981, at the Presbyterian Church in Lime Springs.
Joe worked as plant manager for Fred Carlson Co. of Knife River and Croel Redi Mix Plant in LeRoy for more than 25 years. Joe had a great sense of humor, he enjoyed hunting, going for bike rides on his Harley Davidson, spending time with his friends, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Kristy of Lime Springs; three children, Chantal (Troy) Granahan and grandkids Liam and Audrey of Ankeny, Iowa; Denny McNamara of Lime Springs and Meghan Hill and grandkids Kolton and Nolan of Ankeny, Iowa; three sisters, Colleen (Jim Philen) McNamara of Stillwater, Rose (Fred More) McNamara of Forest Lake, and Marlene (Eddie Lopez) McNamara of San Diego. He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Ryleigh Marie Hill.
Memorials are preferred to the family in lieu of flowers.
