OAK PARK HEIGHTS — More than 300 people attended Lakeview Hospice’s annual “Tree of Remembrance” event Dec. 6 at the Gables Care Center in Boutwells Landing.

Star ornaments and lights for the tree were purchased in honor or memory of a loved one. Each loved one’s name was placed on a star and hung on the tree. All proceeds from the event benefit Lakeview Hospice patients and their families.

The evening featured a presentation by Lakeview Hospice Bereavement Coordinator Debbie Swanson, who spoke about the journey of grief, loss and healing. Eric and Donna Bennett provided vocal and instrumental music and Debra Dziuk produced a beautiful memorial video.

The Lakeview Hospice Team extends their appreciation to all the volunteers who gave countless hours to this event, including Nedra Choiniere, who traced and cut out every star that hangs on the trees. A special thanks goes to all the families and guests who contributed to this year’s tree and made the event a success.

The tree will remain on display through Christmas. The public is welcome to see the tree and take their star, if they wish.
