Lois Bowers, 87, of Stillwater, passed away peacefully Dec. 6, 2012, at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, surrounded by family.
Lois Irene Brekke was born April 24, 1925, to Oscar and Alma Brekke in Kenyon, Minn. She graduated in 1943 from Kenyon High School then moved in 1944 to Richmond, Calif., to work in the shipyards during the World War II effort.
Lois married Martin Craig Bowers on May 15, 1944, in Richmond. They lived in California for several years then moved back to Minnesota, residing in Rochester. Martin and Lois moved back to California in 1973, living there until Martin’s death in 1976. Lois moved to Stillwater, where she spent her remaining years.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her parents; brothers, Aldi and Steven; and sister, Dorothy. She is survived by her sons, Michael, of Somerset, Wis., Marvin, of Maplewood, and Mark, of Stillwater; five grandchildren, Michael Craig, Matthew, David, Tara, and Martin, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
