Adapted soccer: Ponies top Wayzata in season opener

MINNETONKA — The Stillwater adapted soccer team opened its season with a 15-2 victory over the Wayzata/Minnetonka Lakers on Tuesday.

The Ponies (1-0) used a balanced scoring attack and stingy defense to pull away for a lop-sided victory, led by Austin Harjes, Dan Pehrson and Riley Cludy with four goals apiece.

“The kids performed like they were supposed to and the assistant coaches have done a very good job this year,” Stillwater coach Rob Hollerbach said. “This is the best passing I’ve seen in years with the kids.”

Wesley Dahle and Devin Wildes chipped in with two goals apiece for Stillwater and several players recorded an assist, including Harjes, Cali Capistrant and Brittany Benz.
