Washington County Parks invites campers and visitors to participate in family-friendly, guided bird hikes at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park. The next one is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. June 23.
Additional dates for the bird hikes will be June 30, July 7, July 14, Aug. 4 and Aug. 11.
Participants will learn more about the birds who call Minnesota home as they walk the scenic prairie and wooded trails of the lower St. Croix Valley with volunteer and birding enthusiast, Shelley Bowman.
St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park is along the St. Croix River on County Road 21, between County Road 76 and County Road 78, in Denmark Township. The program will meet near the campground amphitheater. The trail terrain varies between grass and gravel and is rated easy to moderate. All bird hikes are free to park visitors with a valid park permit ($5 per day or $25 annually). Camping is available, although reservations are not required to participate. Permits may be purchased at the park contact station. If it rains, a modified program will be at the boat launch picnic shelter; however, in the case of inclement or stormy weather, the program will be canceled.
