Free kayaking demo set at Big Marine Park Reserve beach June 23

An afternoon of kayaking is on tap noon to 3 p.m. June 23, for visitors to Washington County’s Big Marine Park Reserve.

Kayak experts from Joe’s Sporting Goods will be on site to teach basic maneuvers, kayak operation and safety. A variety of kayaks and equipment will be provided. Bring the family and spend the afternoon at Big Marine Park Reserve to explore this and other outdoor recreation opportunities, including fishing, trail walking, a state-of-the-art playground and nature viewing.

This kayaking program is free to all park visitors with a valid park permit ($5 per day or $25 annually). Permits may be purchased at the park contact station. The program will meet and launch from the northwest end of the beach. No experience or equipment is necessary. Participants will be required to sign a safety waiver and children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Big Marine Park Reserve is on Manning Trail (CSAH 15) a half mile north of 170th Street (CSAH 4) in May Township at 17495 Manning Trail N., Marine on St Croix. The program will meet near the north end of the beach.
