Natalie Gerber – Softball

Anchoring a deep and solid lineup, Natalie Gerber was a steady run-producer and solid shortstop all season for the state champion Ponies softball team, which featured just three seniors on the roster.

Gerber, a sophomore, was one of three Ponies named to the All-Tournament Team after collecting five hits and 5 RBIs in three games at state, including a solo homer for Stillwater’s first run in an eventual 11-inning victory over Mankato East in the semifinals. She also drove a two-run single in the decisive four-run 11th inning. Gerber also delivered an RBI single to plate Stillwater’s first run in the 6-2 victory over Maple Grove in the championship game to cap a 21-8 season.

Wayde Hall – Boys track and field

Competing for the first time in an individual event at the state track and field meet, Stillwater junior Wayde Hall performed like a veteran while placing third in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races last weekend at Hamline University.

Hall, who contributed to last year’s state title as a member of the 4×800 relay team and was Stillwater’s top finisher en route to another state championship in cross country last fall. On Friday, Hall completed the 3,200 race in 9:19.68 and followed another third-place finish while running 4:14.58 in the 1,600 meters. Hall was the biggest point producer for the conference and section champion Ponies, who scored 27 points to place 10th in the team standings at state.
