‘John Runk Films’ to be shown at Warden’s House Sept. 16

The Washington County Historical Society will show, “An Ode to Stillwater: The John Runk Films.” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, on the lawn of the Warden’s House, 602 N. North Main St. in Stillwater.

After a donation of 48 canisters of 8 mm film shot by local photographer John Runk, the historical society applied for and received a Legacy Grant to transfer the films to a digital format and hire a local director/producer to come up with a history of the photographer and his films.

Runk, a photographer, not only took photographs of the area but also collected pictures in a collection spanning more than 100 years. Runk also enjoyed the newest technology and with his 8 mm camera captured a slice of the St. Croix Valley that will live forever in this film. The 30-minute main program written and directed by Paul Creager and Square Lake Productions.

The event is free. Donations are accepted. For more information contact the Warden’s House Museum at 651-439-5956 or visit wchsmn.org. DVDs will be available for sale at the event.
