Lisa Kay Berg

Lisa Kay Berg, age 51, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Monday, July 17, 2017, in Stillwater, MN. She was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Joanne Honsvall-Berg and George Berg on August 5, 1965. She grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI where she realized a love of the water on Lake St. Clair. She graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1983.
Lisa was a master gardener; an independent marine professional; certified captain and a member of the U.S. Sailing Association who worked throughout the United States. She raced, taught, crewed, delivered and captained nearly every type of sailboat. She also taught sailing at the Portage Yacht Club in Pinckney MI more than 10 years. Through her enthusiasm for life, personality and teaching, she was able to share her passion for the water with thousands of children and adults over the years.
Lisa is survived by her children, Corey Petro, Kirsten (Brian) Petro Burk and Kevin Gardner; brother George (Laura) Berg, nieces Madison and Amelia Berg.
A private service was held in Stillwater.
