Silver Sobriety’s second annual fundraiser will feature former television journalist and anchor Don Shelby, who will share his personal story of recovery.
“We are delighted to have Don Shelby as our keynote speaker,” said Win Miller, Silver Sobriety executive director. “Don is considered one of the most honored and decorated local television journalists in the country and has a strong connection to our mission. We hope his story will inspire others to support this important work.”
Silver Sobriety offers an addiction recovery model targeted at an underserved demographic — older adults — and available at a lower cost than other recovery services in the Twin Cities. It helps seniors connect with their peers and focus on issues unique to their age group.
The fundraising event, titled “Seeds of Recovery” is 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights. Tickets are $50 and include a social hour, dinner and live music. Register at silversobriety.org.
