A portion of the Minnesota Correctional Facility – Stillwater remains on lockdown while authorities investigate a fight that took place Saturday, Aug. 5, according to Sarah Fitzgerald, a spokesperson for the Minnesota Department of Corrections. No prison staff or offenders were injured.
A lockdown means offenders stay in their cells, rather than go out for work or programming, Fitzgerald said, adding that lockdowns are “not uncommon following an incident.”
Located in Bayport, the entire prison was on lockdown until Aug. 8, when operations went back to normal, except in the housing unit where the incident took place. That unit will remain locked down until an investigation is complete, Fitzgerald said.
