Two cash prices already given, visitors will vote for Audience Award
The annual Members Show at ArtReach St. Croix opened July 13 with a reception and awards presentation. This year’s exhibition celebrates the diversity of art created in the area and includes work by 58 artists who live or work in the St. Croix Valley.
Two cash awards were presented at the reception.
The Best of Show award went to Gil Gragert for his mosaic sculpture, “Gaia: Mother of All.” This award is funded by arts enthusiast Suzann Brown who also recognized Nancy L. Johnson’s acrylic painting, “Three Irish Women” with an honorable mention.
The VAC Award, selected by members of the ArtReach visual arts committee, was presented to Julie Snidle who made an encaustic painting titled “A New Route.”
A third cash award, The Audience Award, will be announced at a closing reception on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2-4 p.m. Each gallery visitor during the run of the Members Show is invited to cast one vote for his or her favorite artist or piece. All votes received by 3 p.m. on the day of the closing party will be tallied to determine the award winner.
The annual Members Show will be on view through Saturday, Aug. 19. The galleries at ArtReach St. Croix are open Wednesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m.
