In honor of its founder, Karla Sweeney, St. Croix Ballet of Stillwater has announced the formation of a nonprofit arm, to be known as “The Karla Sweeney Foundation for the Arts.” The foundation’s mission is to support high-quality dance training in the East Metro area. St. Croix Ballet, with the support of The Karla Sweeney Foundation, provides classical ballet instruction, performance opportunities, Pilates conditioning, flamenco and character dance classes.

St. Croix Ballet debuted the newly formed Karla Sweeney Foundation Feb. 20 during the fund-raising event “Evening on Pointe” at the Grand Banquet Hall in downtown Stillwater. “Evening on Pointe” is an annual event that features a silent auction, food and dance performances by the studio’s advanced dancers. This year’s attendees were entertained with dance variations from Paquita, The Blue Danube Waltz and an energetic flamenco performance.

St. Croix Ballet continues its performance season at Stillwater High School on April 22-24 with the ballet “Sleeping Beauty.”
