Preceded in death by his parents William H. and Alma Markgraf, sons Boyd and Billy and daughters Lindsey and Beth and sons-in-law West Houle Sr. and Steve Hendrickson.
Survived by his wife of 61 years, Roberta and loving children LuAnn Mordick, Laurie Houle, Brad Mordick (Deb), Bruce Mordick, Brian Mordick (Lori Pfeifer), Becky Hendrickson, Julie Filmore and Brenda Day (Dave), grandchildren Jim, West Jr., Jennifer, Katie, Andrea, Michael, Christopher, Tyler, Ben, Mark, Scott, Molly, Hannah, Amanda, Matt and Nate, great-grandchildren Trystin, Dylan, Sierra, Ryan, Christian, Tanner, Shelby and Kennedy.
Graduated from Stillwater High School in 1947 and from Northwestern Television and Electronics in 1950. Drafted into the Navy in 1947 as an air traffic controller on the USS Franklin Roosevelt, 5th Regiment, Battalion 53 and Company 68 and a Veteran of the Korean War. Worked at Gambles, Minnesota Manufacturing, as a TV repair man and finished his career at Stillwater Correctional Facility as Director of Plant Operations. He was a Master Electrician and fixer of many things. He was a man of faith who treasured his family and friends, a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church who worked all of his life to be kind and help others.
A funeral service will be held on May 3, 2014 at 12:00 PM at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd. (NW corner of Hwy 36 & Co Rd 5), Stillwater with a visitation two hours prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the family.
