Snowboarding — Stillwater’s Brennen Swanson wins the boys’ 12-13 year-old slopestyle event at the United States of America Snowboard Association National Snowboard Championships in Angel Fire, N.M. Each of his runs were the two highest posted in the event, which includes a field of 83 riders. Swanson also places 26th in the halfpipe and 52nd in boardercross to place seventh in the overall freestyle rankings.
Running — Stillwater graduate Luke Watson, who enjoyed an All-American career at Notre Dame, places 36th overall with a time of 12:17 in the 4-kilometer race at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Brussels, Belgium. Watson was the second-fastest runner for a United States team that places seventh in the team standings.
