Lake Elmo native and 2010 Stillwater Area High School graduate Alex Oman was an honorable mention selection for the All-WIAC Men’s Basketball Team, which was announced on March 5.
Oman, a 6-foot-4 senior forward, finished his collegiate career No. 16 on UW-Stout’s all-time scoring list with 1,116 points. He averaged 13 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while helping the Blue Devils to a 12-14 record, including 7-9 to place fifth in the rugged WIAC. The Blue Devils lost to UW-Platteville in the quarterfinals of the conference tourney.
An All-WIAC first team selection a year ago, Oman also earned honorable mention recognition as a sophomore in 2011-12 when he averaged a career high 18.4 points per game.
Handevidt named to All-Academic Team
Minnesota State University-Moorhead sophomore Savanna Handevidt was among a group of 38 Dragons named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team.
The international business major started all 27 games for the Dragons (12-10 NSIC, 16-11) while averaging 5.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. She averaged 2.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game as a freshman while making 21 starts and appearing in 27 or 28 games.
To be eligible for this All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore and a varsity team member posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
