The St. Croix Swim Club sent a large contingent of athletes to Rochester earlier this month to compete in the Senior State Meet and the Age Group State Meet.
Twent-eight Silver Rays competed in the Senior State Meet on March 6-8 while 33 swimmers participated in the Age Group State Meet (14-and-under) on March 13-16.
SCSC placed sixth in standings for the Senior State Meet with 917 points, led by 100 backstroke state champion Mickayla Hinkle. Warren Sexson, Kylie Burgess and Erika Guenther joined Hinkle as a state medalist (top eight). State finalists for the Silver Rays included: Ava Howard, Sophia Bisch, Joel Berling, Megan Boonstra, Kristin Erf, Lianna Wood, Jon Busse, Brady Anderson, Audrey DeKock, Austin Kinzie, Max Larson, Kayla Maatta, Emma Stacy and Francesca Tinucci.
In the Age Group State Meet, the Silver Rays placed seventh overall with 1,157 points. Jack Baude won seven individual state titles in the boys’ 9-10 age group (100 butterfly, 50 and 100 backstroke, 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and the 100 individual medley) while Asia Neuman won the 100 IM in the girls’ 13-14 age group.
Baude and Neuman were joined as medalists by teammates Alivia Lindorfer, Jon Busse, Sydney Rogness, Kelsey Erf, Ethan Auleciems, Gabriella Baldwin, Lianna Wood, Madison Lather and Sam Larson.
Finalists for the Silver Rays included: Carly Scheuerman, Ciana Fragnito, Malaina Fragnito, Kiara Xanthos, Aidan Bloomquist, Lianna Wood, Gabriella Baldwin, Kelsey Erf, Alivia Lindorfer, Sam Larson, Johann Noer, Asia Neuman, Maggie Kolb and Madison Lather.
