Squire House Gardens annual spring art show opens March 8

Squire House Gardens is located on the ground floor of a historic 1875 home, 3390 St. Croix Trail S. in Afton.
Entitled “Point of View,” this year’s show features seven local artists, displaying work that captures their insights into life and nature. Artwork includes oil, acrylic, watercolor and sketches, and the show features various styles from impressionism to realism. Sizes range from small to large, at affordable prices.
Hours for the art show are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. From 5-9 p.m. Saturday, March 8, the public is invited to attend an artists’ reception, featuring complimentary beverages and light refreshments and the opportunity to meet the artists.
“This year’s art show is a celebration of nature, color and vivacity,” said Martin Stern, owner of Squire House Gardens. “I am honored to showcase the work of seven exceptional local painters, who share a connection and a passion for our familiar landscapes and the natural world around us.”
Participating artists include:
• James Wilcox Dimmer, Osceola, WI – considered one of the foremost painters of the St. Croix River Valley, showcasing recent works in acrylic
• Deb Kirkeeide, Minneapolis, MN – Floral, botanical, birds, oil paintings
• Michele Combs, Minneapolis, MN – Impressionist oil landscapes, miniatures
• Mary Anne O’Malley, Deephaven – Nature artist, watercolor/graphite
• Richard Meacock, Afton – Landscapes that highlight color and light, oil
• Kami Mendlik, St. Croix River Valley – Plein air, Impressionist landscape and floral oil paintings, miniatures
• Stuart Loughridge, St. Paul – sketches, intaglio, watercolor
