ROSEVILLE — Competing largely against its own expectations while facing state power Roseville, the Ponies delivered their highest score of the season in Suburban East Conference competition while falling to the Raiders 149.075-136.475.
Roseville, which is also a heavy favorite in Section 4AA, has captured state titles six of the past eight years.
The Ponies (3-4 SEC, 3-4) finished just 1.0 behind Roseville in the vault (37.075-36.075), but the balanced Raiders scored 37 points or higher in all four events to prevail by a comfortable margin.
Sidnee Ronsberg led the Ponies with a score of 9.05 in their first event and Danielle Keran wasn’t far behind at 8.9, but competing without injured regulars Natalie Jantschek (shoulder) and Lauren Thole (concussion) took a toll with no other scores above 8.0. Ronsberg also led the Ponies in vault with a score of 9.1, followed closely by Maddie Steffl (9.05), Keran (8.975) and Maggie Germundson (8.95). Alex Holmberg (8.65) also delivered a strong performance as the team’s five vaulters were separated by just .45.
“We followed bars with our of our best vault sets of the season,” Swenson said. “Vault has been our most consistent event for the past several years and that is now showing again.”
Scottland Adkins led the Ponies with a score of 8.55 in the beam — marking the first time all season the team didn’t count a fall into the score.
Keran led the way in the floor exercise with a score of 8.75.
n The Ponies fell to Roseville 133.9-124.7 in the JV competition on Tuesday, but the Ponies received third-place finishes from Haley Tholen in the vault, Maddie Steffl in the beam and Maggie Germundson in the floor.

Ponies finish third at Eagan
At Eagan, the Ponies posted their highest score of the season while placing third at the four-team Eagan Invitational on Saturday. North Branch took top honors with a score of 140.95, but runner-up Mahtomedi (137.25) and fourth-place Eagan (136.8) were separated by less than half a point in the battle for the second through fourth spots. The Ponies placed third with a total of 137.05.
“It was a close meet and exciting to top the 137 mark,” Stillwater coach Traci Swenson said.
Natalie Jantschek led the Ponies in the uneven bars (9.0) and beam (8.4) while Danielle Keran set the pace in the vault (9.2) and floor (9.0). Maggie Germundson matched Keran’s 9.2 in the vault and Maddie Steffl was not far behind at 9.0.
“Maggie had two outstanding vaults,” Swenson said. “Her handspring full vault has a start value of 9.4, so her scores of 9.15 on her first vault and 9.2 on her second show how clean her execution is.
