The Ponies scored 1,176.5 points to outdistance runner-up Woodbury (780.5) and third-place Park (625) in the six-team field to earn their eighth consecutive state berth. Stillwater has qualified for state in 9 of the 10 years the True Team state meet has been conducted.

“I thought they swam and dove pretty well for what was going on,” Ponies coach Brian Luke said. “We won by more than I thought we would, actually. We stepped up in a lot of events, so I was pleased.”

Stillwater finished first in five events, including record-setting performances from Colin Eason in diving and in the 200 freestyle relay.

Eason posted a winning score of 383.20 to better than meet record total he achieved a year ago. Marcus Green, Jon Busse, Jesse Busse and Tom Windett won the 200 free relay in 1:31.06, bettering the record set by Stillwater’s Brandon Adair, Andy Knaak, Greg Wise and Andrew DeShaw in 2006.

Stillwater also received victories from Jon Busse in the 200 freestyle (1:50.25), Max Larson in the 500 freestyle (5:04.77) and Brady Anderson in the 100 backstroke (55.27).

The Class AA True Team state meet is scheduled for Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, starting at 6:30 p.m.
