Festival Theatre will hold auditions on Monday, Jan. 20, and Tuesday, Jan. 21, for community youth (ages 5-18) in the Youth & Family Theatre production of “Aesop’s Fables.” Audition registration is required in advance and the deadline is 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.
The Youth and Family Series is a year-round group of productions that allow area youth the opportunity to perform and work with top-quality, professional talent.
Festival Theatre is kicking off the year by telling a brand new version of the most classic youth tales ever told. Think: tortoise meets hare, combined with a devious fox, hens with quite a bit of cluck, and much more, all woven together in one seamless production. “Aesop’s Fables” will be directed by Andrew Bradford Benson. Benson and Arts Education Coordinator Seth Kaltwasser have been working together to form the script.
Rehearsal will begin on or around Jan. 27th, depending on cast members’ schedules. Rehearsal and theatre workshops will continue over the course of five weeks as the directors and designers prepare for the opening performance on March 6. This process requires a big commitment; the rehearsal process is designed to allow an excellent learning environment for a wide age-range of participating youth. The spring production always needs a large cast and is a great time for performers of all experience levels to get on stage.
Public Performances run from March 6-16 with afternoon and evening shows, and some weekday school matinees are built into the schedule as well.
