Kristin Erf — Girls swimming and diving
One of just three seniors among Stillwater’s qualifiers for the Class AA girls’ swimming and diving state meet, Kristin Erf has been a steady performer for the Ponies all season.
The South Dakota State University recruit won the 100 butterfly in a time of 57.79 and finished second in the 100 breastroke at 1:06.28 to help the Ponies to their 12th consecutive Section 4AA championship on Nov. 9. Erf also contributed to Stillwater’s section champion 200 medley (Abby Kunze, Sophia Bisch and Ava Howard) and 200 freestyle (Bisch, Asia Neuman and Kylie Burgess) relay teams that also qualified for this week’s state meet.
The Ponies finished the season with an 11-0 record, including 9-0 in the SEC.
Dan Pehrson — Boys basketball
An invaluable two-way performer for the Stillwater adapted soccer team, Dan Pehrson helped lead the Ponies to their first state tournament appearance since 2006 following an upset victory over defending CI Division state champion Dakota United on Nov. 6.
Pehrson scored two goals in the 5-3 victory over the Hawks and also delivered three goals in Stillwater’s quarterfinal and consolation losses in the state tournament. The senior scored a goal in Friday’s 9-4 loss to Park Center and provided two goals in Saturday’s season-ending 7-5 setback against Mounds View/Irondale/Roseville in the consolation semifinals.
Stillwater finished the season with a 6-7 record.
