Recent Stillwater graduate and current University of Minnesota freshman Wayde Hall has been named the McNamara Academic Center for Student-Athletes (MAC) Student-Athlete of the Month for October.
Hall, who a year ago captured the individual cross country state title while helping the Ponies to their second straight team title, is finding success in the classroom during his first semester on the U of M campus.
Each month, the MAC recognizes one male and female U of M student-athlete for their academic achievements. Winners are determined by several factors that are evaluated monthly, including, but not limited to outstanding test/exam results, GPA improvements, superior modeling in study habits and skills, academic praise from instructors and overall grade reports.
“Wayde is doing an excellent job of adapting to the academic and athletic culture here at the University of Minnesota,” Gophers coach Steve Plasencia said. “I look forward to watching him continue to excel as he moves deeper into his time here.”
While competing for the Ponies, Hall also contributed to track and field state titles in 2011 and 2013.
