Autumn Nyenhuis — Volleyball
The Stillwater volleyball team relied on a balanced attack all season and outside hitter Autumn Nyenhuis was especially strong down the stretch for the Ponies.
The senior delivered a 14 kills in last week’s 3-1 Section 4AAA quarterfinal victory over East Ridge when she led three Ponies who finished with 10 or more kills. Nyenhuis came through with a kill and a block to secure the final two points of a 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 26-24 victory over the Raptors. Nyenhuis also provided a team-high seven kills in Tuesday’s 3-0 section semifinal setback against top-seeded North St. Paul.
The Ponies finished the season with a 14-15 record, including 6-3 to place fourth in the Suburban East Conference.
Austin Harjes — Adapted soccer
There have been several strong contributors for the Stillwater adapted soccer team this fall with Austin Harjes providing steady production on offense and while spelling Dan Pehrson in goal.
Harjes delivered the game-winner in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over St. Cloud Area to help the Ponies to their third victory in the past four games. Prior to last week’s 6-3 loss at Columbia Heights, Harjes totaled four goals in the second half of a 10-4 victory over White Bear Lake at SAHS on Oct. 22. Harjes was held scoreless in the first half before breaking loose for four goals to help the Ponies pull away.
Stillwater (5-4) hosts Anoka in its regular season finale tonight at SAHS.
