The three presentations at the council’s 4:30 p.m. work session include Filo Productions of St. Paul, Genius of Fun Events of Saint Croix Falls, Wis., and Minneapolis and Mid-America Festivals Corp. of Shakopee.
The three are heavy hitters according to their resumes.
Filo Productions has organized events for various sports leagues including the NBA and has proposed “River Jam” and “Sawmill Days” as possible names of the festival. Recent productions include Hope Rocks at the Depot in Minneapolis, a benefit for Hope’s Lodge.
Genius of Fun events has had a more local focus planning events that include Music on the Overlook series in St. Croix Falls, Wanigan Days in Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls, the St. Croix Falls Autumn Fest and Franconia Sculpture Park’s Art and Artist’s Celebration and Summer Music Festival. They’ve proposed “The Spirit of Stillwater” as the name of their event.
While Mid-America Festivals Corp. of Shakopee has produced Renaissance Festivals in Shakopee, the California Bay Area, Kansas City and Michigan, as well as the Trail of Terror at Valleyfair.
Later on at the 7 p.m. meeting, the proposal by Stillwater Caves LLC regarding turning the Wolf Building into a boutique hotel is also on the docket following a recent tour of the buildings by the council.
Both meetings take place at Stillwater City Hall and are open to the public.
