Gazette welcomes new managing editor

Jonathan Young

The Stillwater Gazette welcomes a new managing editor this week.
Jonathan Young, formerly of the Brooklyn Park Sun Post, took the helm at the Gazette Tuesday.
“Jonathan will bring a deep sense of community journalism to the area that I think people will appreciate,” ECM Publishers Director of News Keith Anderson said. “He is naturally curious, very approachable, a great listener and keenly interested in the stories and people that define Stillwater and the St. Croix Valley region.”
During his time with the Sun Post, Young earned several awards from the Minnesota Newspaper Association and other professional organizations.
He believes a high-quality newspaper can play a vital role in the culture and conversation of a community.
“What may be of most interest to the residents of the area is that Jonathan takes his job as a journalist very seriously, striving for accuracy, compassion and a genuine desire to share the stories that matter to you,” Anderson said.
Gazette Publisher Mark Berriman also looks forward to what lies ahead.
“Jonathan will be a breath of fresh air for the Gazette, both in our newsroom and in our community,” he said. “I have no doubt that our readers will find him both approachable and professional. We are excited to have him as part of our staff.”
