Afton church hosts ham dinner
AFTON — St. Peter Lutheran Church in Afton holds is 58th Annual Ham Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church located at 880 Neal Ave. South in Afton.
Cost is $12.50 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 years and free for children 5 years and younger. Take-out is available.
To get to the church, take the Manning Avenue exit off Interstate 94, drive one mile east on the frontage road to Neal Avenue South, then one mile south on Neal Avenue.
Bayport church serves supper
BAYPORT — Bethlehem Lutheran Church hosts its September “Second Sunday” dinner of pot roast, vegetable, rolls and dessert at 5 p.m. Sunday at the church located at 490 Fourth St. in Bayport.
The public is invited. The meal is provided to create a social connection throughout the St. Croix Valley.
Fall festival in St. Joseph
ST. JOSEPH, Wis. — Family Church of Christ and the town of St. Joseph hold their annual Fall Festival from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14.
The Town Hall is the site of the festival pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. and a 5K run at 8 a.m. Also at the Town Hall is a model of the St. Croix Crossing bridge, history booth, Homestead Park booth, Perch Lake information, 4-H animals and project displays, a tractor display, fire trucks, a wagon ride and Boy Scout food booth.
Across the road, Family Church of Christ holds a bake and craft sale and has a concession stand, bingo table and car show and serves a pulled pork dinner with corn-on-the-cob, baked potatoes, coleslaw and dessert. Activities at the church are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and proceeds from the church events support a youth mission trip in the summer of 2014.
St. Joseph Town Hall and Family Church of Christ are located at the intersection of St. Croix County roads E and V in Houlton. Cross the Stillwater Lift Bridge and take a steep right on County Road E for 2.5 miles. Call the church at 715-549-6140 or town hall at 715-549-6235 for more information.
Church hosts choir concerts
MAHTOMEDI — St. Andrews Lutheran Church hosts two performances by the National Lutheran Choir, including the first performance of the group’s “All Saints” program in November.
The choir, with guest conductor Craig Hella Johnson and organist-pianist Bill Chouinard, performs its All Saints program, “Remember,” at 7 p.m. at the church located at 900 Stillwater Road.
The National Lutheran Choir returns to St. Andrew’s in spring 2014 for its spring concert, “Exalt.” That performance featuring a world premiere and commission by Zach Wadsworth and organist Aaron David Miller is 4 p.m May 4.
Other performances this season by the National Lutheran Choir are in Plymouth and Minneapolis, including two concerts at the Basilica of Saint Mary, and a performance in St. Louis.
