John William ‘Bill’ Huff

obit_080913_huffNAPERVILLE, Ill. — John W. “Bill” Huff, 82, a resident of Naperville since 1961, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Stillwater. Bill is the beloved husband of the late Patricia “Pat” (nee Mooney) Huff, whom he married Oct. 23, 1954, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Stillwater, and who preceded him in death July 10, 2007. Bill is the loving father of Connie Armenia of Medford, N.Y., Barbara (Hidemichi Nishi) Huff of Studio City, Calif., Patrick (Mary) Huff of Aurora, Ill., Joan (Joseph) Strzelecki of Naperville, Mary Juneau of Aurora, Ill., Kathleen Block of Los Angeles, and Thomas Huff of Waterloo, Iowa; adored grandfather of Carla, Nichola, John, Naomi, Sean, Amanda, Rachel, Ryan, Patrais, Melissa, Angela and Alexander, cherished great-grandfather of John Patrick, Jaslene, Ethan and Sebastian; devoted son of the late Dick and Elsie (nee Hogan) Huff; dear brother of Shirley (the late Ralph) Green of Stillwater, and Margaret (Dan) McDonald of White Bear Lake, and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Bill grew up in Stillwater, graduated from Stillwater High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad (now Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp.) after many years of service. Bill moved to Naperville’s Longwood subdivision in 1961 where he was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church and later was a charter member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, where he was a host greeter and involved with the “Fifty & Holding” seniors group. Bill served on the Saints Peter & Paul School Board, was active with the Boys Scouts of America and was a member of the Korean War Veterans of America. Visitation is 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 South Mill St. in Naperville. Closing prayers begin at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12 from the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Road in Naperville.
