Hotel guest cited for taking comforter

A 28-year-old Wisconsin man was cited for stealing a comforter from a Stillwater hotel on Tuesday.

The man apparently seemed intoxicated when he checked out from the hotel and left in his vehicle with the comforter wrapped around him. The man checked in the hotel Monday, and asked for the locations of area bars, When the hotel manager told the man he wasn’t familiar with the local establishments, the man left and returned with liquor bottles and wasn’t seen again until he checked out Tuesday morning.

A check of the guest registry determined that the man lived in New Richmond, Wis. Stillwater police officers were informed that the New Richmond P.D. had found the man. Stillwater officer then went New Richmond to retrieve the hotel comforter.
The man has a history of alcohol issues and was found at his parents’ home. He was given the citation for misdemeanor theft.

Stolen pool

An inflatable pool was reported stolen from a home on the 2000 block of Broadway Street North in Stillwater Thursday.

The caller told officers she saw a man get out of a white van, take her children’s pool out of her yard and place it in his van.

The pool is approximately 8 feet in diameter, purple with zebra print and a zebra head has an estimated value of $20. The caller couldn’t give a further description of the suspect or van because she said the incident happened so quickly.

There are currently no leads or suspects.
