Man found lying in city street in his boxer shorts

A 22-year-old Wisconsin man was found lying in the street and using his boxers as a blanket near PD Pappy’s and Water Street Saturday morning.

A resident called authorities around 7 a.m. and reported a man wearing his boxers and a brown fleece jacket walking toward Water Street. Stillwater Police officers located the man trying to use his boxers as a blanket. The man verbally identified himself to officers, but had no identification on him.

Officers contacted the man’s parents, who took custody of him. The man told officers he was unsure of where he had come from and claimed that his vehicle was downtown but was unable to locate it.

Officers advised the man to sober up and call police if his belongings or vehicle were missing.

Body ID’d as missing man

HUGO — The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Tuesday that a body found Sunday afternoon in Hugo was that of a 75-year-old man missing for a week, a Washington County Sheriff’s Office official said.

WCSO Commander Brian Mueller said the ME’s office determined the body was Radivoje “Ray” Novakovic, who was last seen in the early evening of July 21 leaving his home in the 13000 block of Europa Trail for a walk.

Mueller added that investigators are awaiting toxicology results.

WCSO deputies were contacted about the body shortly before 3:30 p.m. Sunday by individuals who were part of a team searching for Novakovic, Mueller said.

Mueller said WCSO investigators contacted Novakovic’s family after the body was found and added that community members involved in the search for Novakovic called off their search efforts Sunday.

Authorities searched for Novakovic July 21 and 22. Mueller said the effort was complicated by Novakovic’s habit of walking up to four miles daily and taking several different routes. At one point, a WCSO dive team searched the northern end of Bald Eagle Lake.

During a July 22 news conference, Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton and Hugo City Administrator Bryan Bear both urged Hugo residents to search their properties, out buildings, sheds, garages, vehicles and boats for Novakovic.
