Roseville artist Gloria Laurel Gregorian’s “Moon and Moonflowers” received the River Moon Award from The IkutaSchodde Family Foundation during the recent Artists Reception at the July 11 ArtReach St. Croix Annual Members Show of recent original art created by 50 regional artists.
“It immediately captured our attention,” said Geoffery IkutaSchodde, co-founder of the IkutaSchodde Family Foundation, about Gregorian’s painting. “The piece is dark, moody and really glows.”
Only after making the award selection did IkutaSchodde realize the piece has a thematic connection that makes it a great choice for the “River Moon Award.” In addition to the River Moon Award, the IkutaSchodde Family Foundation also funded two other artist awards. The Board of Directors Awards were given to Christie Kowalski for her diptych Floral Creation and Floral Dance and to Gloria Adrian for her collage and oil painting Vessel.
Gallery guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite piece for the Audience Award which will be announced at “Live from the Front Porch” from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 15.
The Annual Members Show is on display through Aug. 17 including during “Live from the Front Porch” every Thursday evening. The St. Croix Galleries are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. ArtReach St. Croix is located at 224 N. Fourth St. in Stillwater.
